Great share, Lisa. Ugh. So sad to see all the anti glyphosate campaign work we did 20 years ago fell on deaf ears. I think there is a Native American quote about that- once there is awareness and more $ it will be too late. Sadly, now it has taken over agriculture (hate that word) so bad they are talking of subsidizing farms who use it, saying our food system depends on it. 🤯💔
Yes, I was ranting about that while writing … the writing is an outlet for me and sometimes I think “why are we here, we really don’t need to be here!”.
I had a similar experience with someone who's home inwas staying at. The gardner came and sprayed roundup on her driveway and lawn. When I questioned her she said " how else can I kill the weeds?"
Sickening what we’ve normalized in this world we share, isn’t it?
A friend of mine staying in a rental home said the homeowner didn’t know about the spray but simply hired gardeners to take care of the lawn. The whole concept of a lawn is another topic … one I’ve written and spoken about extensively in TWIC. We really can do better.
Such a timely post. My dad and I just had this conversation this weekend.
His house was full of gardeners, Round Up, and Miracle-Gro — and he has stage four liver and esophageal cancer.
He said, “I just want to kill those little tiny weeds.”
I said, “By killing the weeds, you’re basically killing yourself.”
He said, “Well, I guess that’s just the way it is.”
I want to do better for my children and for the planet. The urge to control nature is what brought us here. Entropy will come for all of us. We die and return to the ground. Shouldn’t we want that ground free of pesticides?
Thanks, as always, for illuminating the love it takes to fix the world we live in.
Yes, many choices are being made for us … and we still can make better choices for ourselves. I encourage you to log into TWIC and listen to my super short and hopeful interview with Helena Norberg-Hodge. Good for the soul and us all. 💛
It's shocking that we still allow these chemicals to be used AT ALL! Glyphosate is responsible for many of our gut health issues, especially gluten intolerance–something that barely exists in Italy, where they've banned it and many other pesticides. Thanks for raising awareness of this horrifying reality, Lisa. We can and should do better!

It’s likely not what you meant but the Precautionary Principle teaches us that once it hits the news it’s too late. https://www.thewellnessintelligencecollective.com/posts/the-precautionary-principle
We know nature will win … but what a journey. Glad to be on it with you.

I’m so sorry to hear this, Rache. And wow, what a conversation.
and yes … I do believe we all need to unite around the health of our soil. 100 percent. Have you seen the film Symphony of the Soil? Or Common Ground?
Beyond soil. We need to unite all around all of it. I will have to watch! :)
Amen. One choice at a time … let’s talk!
Unfortunately… we are too far gone to make one choice. It’s all interconnected. Choices will be made for us. We can resist or we can surrender.
Free to talk any time. Just call

And, I’m sure we will speak soon!

Amen, Eve!!!! It is shocking and we absolutely can do better. Thanks for adding to this. 💛
Who was the "yahoo" who decided dandelions needed to be removed? Great article, Lisa. Never liked the word roundup. Blech.
And I’m now going to check into when lawns started! You remember Not All Grass Is Created Equal, right?!
It’s amazing how powerful words are … when we pay attention to them.
If you have gardeners, let them know to stop spraying! 🌱
